Easy Holiday Cocktail: Spiked Cranberry Spritz
I've been wanting to share a few of my favorite things for the holidays, and with this crazy season, a quick and easy beverage is a necessity. Christmas season is here and with all the hustle and bustle of planning your next gift shopping adventure, or returning from your hunt, a simple drink, spiked of course, is just what you need. This Spiked Cranberry Spritz is refreshing and perfect even if you just got wiped out from shopping and it is only 3 o'clock. Just be sure to get a bite in before you imbibe, trust me.
Here in Texas, it gets cold but we rarely get snow. It is especially chilly this week, but considering what the weather is like up north, I will happily take a little drizzle. This recipe probably exists somewhere and is called something fancy. Honestly, I was just playing around last week at Thanksgiving, we had a can of sparkling cranberry juice and a little vodka on hand, threw them together and gave it a stir. It's light and fresh and you don't taste the vodka, perfect. One of my favorite libations is just a vodka cranberry, so this is exactly the same, the bubbles just made it lighter and more delightful.
How do you make it? Add ice to a small glass, pour in 1 oz of vodka, then 4 oz of sparkling cranberry and stir. It might not be sophisticated, but it is delicious.
I'll be honest, I'm a fruity girl, in more ways than one, ha, but I love me some semi-sweet drinks. I tend to mix on the strong side, but in the recipe, I have made it a standard strength. If you put more in, like I do, I certainly won't tell. Also, if you chill the cans of juice before hand, you won't need ice, so your drink won't get watered down, naughty, naughty, I know.
