White Elephant Exchange Gift Ideas
Wondering what to bring to a White Elephant Party? The White Elephant Gift Exchange is possibly my favorite holiday party game. In our family, it is always a “prank” or funny gift exchange, and I know how hard it can be to find the perfect “bad” gift. It is a challenge and we don’t take it lightly at our house. In fact, one year the best gift was a bedazzled toliet seat. I’m not kidding. It still hangs like a trophy in the garage. If you are looking for amazing gifts for the good white elephant version, aka gifts you actually want like gift cards and peppermint bark, with co-workers that have good taste, this is not it. Instead, we are going all out on terrible ideas and I’ve rounded up the best funny gifts for the holidays this year and it doesn’t disappoint. You’ve been warned.
There are usually a few categories of silly gifts. First, we have the obvious like funny ornaments. These typically are either something that you wouldn’t think of putting on an ornament, to something that is a play on words, perfect for those with hobbies or obsessions, and finally regular ornaments that are just ugly. These are typically really badly done reindeer or a super creepy santa, you know what I’m talking about.
Next, we have weird gifts no one is ever going to ask for but might actually be cool. These would be classified as a no-no for a regular gift. No one wants a battery organizer for Christmas. I said it. I’ve seen these on TONS of gift guides. Do NOT buy this for your husband. He does not sit around wondering why his batteries are all messy. Who said they were his batteries, anyways? I digress, but a battery organizer would be a great and possibly useful gift and for this exchange, it might actually work. They will like it, because it isn’t a real Christmas present.
Other items in this “possibly useful” category, are goofy chip clips, random gadgets and tools. Think “stuff I would impluse buy on Amazon for myself”, but NOT as a gift for someone.
And finally, the last category: stupid funny. The kind of thing that makes you wonder, who on earth thought of this? And as you laughing, still contemplating that someone was sitting in a conference room somewhere and proposed this idea to their boss and that boss said yes, let’s do it. Wow. The basic idea is if you see it and spit out your cocoa, this is a winner.
